| The
fast development of light and sports aviation has stimulated
the start up of many new companies which operate in
the field of manufacturing light aircraft. Normally
the internal competencies are those related to mechanical
engineering. However the increase in the performances
of new generation light aircraft ( high performance
engines, variable prop pitch, retractable gear..) has
imposed the requirement to manage all the utilities
by means of highly automated systems and consequently
the requirement to install electronics control systems
without a specific know how on the side of aircraft
builders:
-
Detailed
study of the aircraft in both the design and manufacturing
phases in order to identify some specific and peculiar
characteristics for the avionics component. Each
aircraft must carry onboard a series of equipment
to manage and monitor engine parameters, radio communications,
actuation of mobile control surfaces, identification
of the aircraft and for the safety of the pilot
and the passenger. For this purpose a detailed technical
document is prepared in order to identify the most
correct placement of the electronics equipment and
the most appropriate link between subsystems. This
document will act as the “requirements”
document for the avionics component.
-
Definition
of the reference architecture for the avionics component.
The information contained in the technical document
allow the manufacturer to define the best avionics
configuration for the aircraft with particular reference
to the choice of the equipment available on the
market or to be purposely built under a specific
requirement. A specific analysis is made on the
optimisation of the equipment with reference to
the increase of the performances, of the safety
level with in mind always the reference market.
This service allow the manufacturer to come up with
a very good evaluation of costs and timescales for
the avionics suite of the aircraft.
- Executive design
of the prototipe. This service will
develop the executive design in order to manufacture
the prototype destined to flight test with identification
of all components and their respective intercommunions
required to manage all the avionics equipment on board
with particular care in the ergonomic man machine
interface. This phase is dedicated to a first good
assessment of the equipment required, for the evaluation
of the timescales for prototype manufacturing and
production and for the computation of the performances
of the equipement.

-
Manufacturing
of the prototipe. This service
will allow the aircraft manufacturer to flight
test an perfectly working avionics solution. In
this phase the fpcus will be on singleing out
the best and optimum solution for series production
with particular care in the areas of weight reduction,
easiness of access for inspections and to the
production costs.
-
Flight
test. The prototype will be thoroughly
tested in flight with the goal to fine tune and
qualify the installation by means of real time
data recording in flight. To this purpose DigiSky
can offer several aircraft which can work as test
beds in order to verify the performances before
actual installation.
- Engineering of
the qualified prototype solution.
Identification of the best subcomponents and technical
assistance for series production of the equipment.
Production of the technical documentation and possible
support, if required, in the certification process.
- Series production.
DigiSky is qualified to manage series production
of all designed glass cockpits by suggesting the
optimal lay out of the assembly lines and by suggesting
the most qualified suppliers for the production
of specific sub components such as circuitry, cables,
mechanical items… etc.
- Technical support
services for installation and test.
Production batches can be accompanied by technical
services for installation and test of the equipment
on the assembly lines.
- Technical services
and after sales support. Through
a well established network DigiSky is able to offer
technical assistance for its products by exploiting
the main characteristic which allows the complete
exchange of the entire system by means of few very
simple operations.
